Those interested in participating in middle school or high school sports for the Los Alamos Public Schools now have another option for registration.
Los Alamos athletic director Vicki Nelms said LAPS is offering online registration for the 2013-14 sports programs. Registration can be done using FamilyID.
“FamilyID is a secure registration platform that provides you with an easy, user-friendly way to register for our programs,” Nelms said in a letter to parents and students. “(It) helps us to be more administratively efficient and environmentally responsible.”
The website for LAPS athletics registration is familyid.com/los-alamos-mshs-athletics. Parents or guardians should go through the registration process for their children, Nelms said.
FamilyID is for registration purposes. Interested athletic participants still must get their required physical examinations — exams done April 1 or later are considered current by LAPS — and must turn in that documentation to their coaches prior to workouts.
Those interested in registering online should have student ID numbers, doctor information and health insurance information handy.
The fall 2013 season is approaching fast. The first day of official practice for high school football around the state is Aug. 5, while the official start of practice for other sports is Aug. 12.
Those with questions about the FamilyID registration process should call Nelms on her office phone, 663-2531.
