School buildings throughout the district have been the subjects of detailed analysis of late. Each of the five elementary schools, Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School will receive varying degrees of upgrading throughout the next two decades.During a school board work session Thursday evening at Chamisa Elementary School, all five board members were on hand to hear and discuss the needs of each school.The details of the district’s 20-Year Facilities Renewal Plan will be discussed at length in an article early next week.The board also heard that member Joan Ahlers is scheduled to meet with Assistant County Administrator Tony Mortillaro and LAPS attorney John Kennedy in the near future to discuss the ongoing Trinity Site Project.The board plans to hold public meetings on the subject during the month of April. It has set a tentative date of May 6 to hold a joint meeting with the county.Also Thursday, the board held a special board meeting in which it continued discussion related to its search for a new superintendent.During the meeting, the board voted 5-to-0 to extend its deadline to 4 p.m.
