By The Staff

It was a small gathering for this week’s Pace Race.
Only 10 runners and walkers braved the cold Tuesday night for the Atomic City Roadrunners’ Pace Race. The Pace Race was held on West Road starting near the Los Alamos County Ice Rink.
The top predictor this week was Ted Williams, who was off by eight seconds, easily topping the rest of the field. The second-best predictor was Dan Kelly, who missed by 93 seconds.
Tuesday’s temperatures were not only cold, but the weather had mixed snow showers as well.
The top finisher on the 1-mile course was Inez Ross, who also had the third-best prediction Tuesday. Ross finished with a time of 16:32. Bob Westervelt was the top male finisher on the 1-mile course this week (17:38).
On the 3-mile course, 9-year-old Paulina Burnside had a 29:28 to finish in first place. Nathan Burnside was the fastest male with his time of 29:29.
The next Pace Race will be Tuesday on North Mesa starting near Brewer Arena.
