Running: Sandford wins at Tuesday’s pace race

Tom Sandford had the top prediction in this week’s pace race.

The pace race is a weekly event hosted by the Atomic City Roadrunners racing club. In all, 15 participants took part in the race, held Tuesday on North Mesa.

Sandford had the best prediction, missing his prognosticated finish time by just 11 seconds.

On Tuesday’s 1-mile course, Nathan Romero was the top finisher, crossing the finish line in 6:27. Lauren Bucklin finished the 1-mile course in 14:01.

On the 3-mile course, Ted Romero posted a time of 21:30. Laura McClellan was the top female finisher with her time of 22:44.

The next pace race will be held Tuesday. The Quemazon Gut Buster will start at 6 p.m. at Quemazon Montessori School.
