Mills – Ruby Neil (Simmons) Mills died Feb. 18, 2008, in Cedar Park, Texas. Mrs. Mills was born Jan. 28, 1920, in New Boston, Texas, to Belton and Ora Simmons, the fourth of 13 children. She grew up in New Boston, Texas, and after graduation from high school in 1938, attended Texarkana Business College. She lived for a short time in Fort Worth, Texas, but returned to live in Texarkana. She worked at the Red River Army Depot during WWII and also for the USO. After the war she met her future husband, Charles A. Mills, who also worked at Red River Army Depot as a security guard.

They married in 1948 and moved to Los Alamos, N.M., where they both worked for the Atomic Energy Commission and the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. She also worked for the Energy Research & Development Administration and the Department of Energy. She retired from federal employment with the Department of Energy in 1985 and continued to live in Los Alamos until January 2007 when she and her husband moved to Cedar Park, Texas.Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband Charles after 59 years of marriage in July 2007. She is survived by her son Charles Clay and his wife Renee of Cedar Park, Texas; five grandchildren: Caroline, Leigh Ann and Eddie Mills of Cedar Park, Texas; Jimmy Mills of Houston, Texas; and Virginia Reyes of Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers: Glen and Royce Simmons of Texarkana, Texas; and Brooks Simmons of Hurst, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Rock Springs Cemetery, under the direction of East Funeral Home.Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at the funeral home.Family and friends may send tributes to www.mem.com.
