Roundup: JV splits a twinbill

The Los Alamos Hilltopper junior varsity baseball team took a split over the Bernalillo Spartans at home Thursday.
Los Alamos lost the first game of the doubleheader 4-2, but came back to win the second game 7-2.
The split puts the Hilltoppers at 8-7 on the season.
Along with Thursday’s doubleheader, the Hilltoppers also played a doubleheader April 11 against Capital, winning those two games handily. The Hilltoppers picked up an 11-4 decision in game one against the Jaguars, then crushed the Jaguars 15-0 in the nightcap.
Los Alamos’ JV has won five of its last seven contests. The Hilltoppers will host Santa Fe Tuesday.

JV softball team drops home doubleheader

The Los Alamos junior varsity softball team was swept in White Rock in a Thursday afternoon doubleheader.
Bernalillo’s Spartans rallied for four runs in the fifth inning to take game one 8-4, then exploded for 8 runs in the sixth inning of game two, blasting the Hilltopper 20-3.
Bernalillo had 22 hits against Los Alamos in the second game.
In the first game, the Hilltoppers finished with eight hits by eight different players. Madeline Lockhart had a triple and knocked in a run, while Reyna Lucero, Amanda Park and Jamie Justice also drove in runs.
Justice had a triple and scored a run in game two.
Los Alamos falls to 6-8 on the season. It will have games at Cibola Saturday, one against Cibola and one against Atrisco Heritage.
