Colin MacArthur, Los Alamos High School senior, has been chosen as the May Rotary Student of the Month.
Rotary, the oldest service club in the world, selects one LAHS graduating senior each month based on their academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and community service.
MacArthur is the son of Duncan and Nancy MacArthur. At the high school, MacArthur founded the Film Society, and has been a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society and Olions Thespian Club. He scored in the top 10-percent nationwide on both the Level II and III American Association of German Teachers Exam. He was selected to participate in a 2007 Telluride Association Summer Program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
MacArthur is a member of the Religious Exploration Committee at the Unitarian Church for the past six years and the chair of the Los Alamos County Youth Advisory Board.
Kathy Kelly, Connie Witt and Debbie Smith were formative influences in MacArthur’s early academic career. He wishes to thank them for their patience, encouragement and insight. MacArthur also wishes to recognize Carolyn Corn, Jeannie Heacock, Dean Obermeyer, Lynne Dominy and Joyce Zaugg, all of whom presented him with numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth over the past six years.
