Robert D. Reiswig, 82, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away on Feb. 8. He was preceded in death by his parents David Reiswig and Helen Glenn Reiswig.
Robert was an undergraduate Summerfield Scholar at University of Kansas and attended the Ohio State University and graduated with a master’s and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin, in metallurgical engineering. He met his wife of more than 60 years at the University of Kansas. Following graduate school, he started working at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he worked until his retirement in 1991, after 36 years. He worked as a volunteer on many church projects and regularly donated blood until told he could no longer do so. He read for the blind for 20 years, every week and regularly helped out friends and neighbors in need. He was loved by all who knew him.
Mr. Reiswig is survived by his wife Karolyn B. Reiswig of Los Alamos; sons Mark Reiswig (Jill) of Atlanta, Ga. and George Reiswig (Angela) of Portland, Ore.; granddaughters Daniella Pulliam and Rebecca, Hannah, Rachel and Krista Reiswig; and numerous beloved cousins scattered around the country.
Cremation is being planned and services are pending. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions can be made in Robert’s name to Habitat for Humanity, the Heiffer Project, or other charities that assist those in need.
