Look for revised road striping when entering and exiting De Colores Restaurant at 2470 East Rd. during the next month or so.
“My concern is that people understand the temporary situation we have here,” said Hugo Hinojosa of IMTEC, a 3M Company that is currently constructing a 20,000 square foot engineering and research facility with a 5,000 square foot prototype manufacturing highbay near the restaurant on East Road.
Hinojosa explained that he’s concerned for De Colores owner Joan Duran that her customers become confused and stop visiting the restaurant to eat while the west entrance to her parking lot is temporarily closed.
The east entrance can be accessed by right-hand turns only during this time period. Also, drivers traveling from the townsite must drive just beyond the east entrance and turn into the RV parking lot to enter De Colores, he said.
“We’re putting all of our focus on the new retaining wall and as soon as that’s done we’ll pour the asphalt on the parking lot,” Hinojosa said. “We have to get it done before the cold weather gets here.”
De Colores is the longest running restaurant in Los Alamos. Duran and her family own and operate the restaurant serving lunch 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday and dinner 5-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
“We want people to feel safe coming to the restaurant while there are all these changes to the way they enter and exit. We are anxious for the parking lot to be completed and we want to thank the public for their patience and continued patronage during this period,” Duran said.
Hinojosa agreed saying, “It’s going to be great when it’s done.”
