Right on time, wastewater treatment plant up and running

“On time and under budget” was the phrase of the day, echoed by county councilors Michael Wheeler and Jim Hall, county administrator Max Baker, and many others who attended Thursday’s ceremony in Pueblo Canyon.County councilors, county administrators, Department of Public Utilities officials, utilities board members, Water Trust Board members, State Representative Jeannette Wallace (R-Los Alamos) and New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) Secretary Ron Curry attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday for the county’s new wastewater treatment plant.Utilities manager Robert “Buck” Monday welcomed the dignitaries, and thanked everyone involved for their support of the project, which was many years in the making.Utilities board chair Chris Ortega, who was the manager of the utilities department at the time the project was first planned, told the assembled dignitaries of the history of the plant.“We started planning this in the late ’90s.
