Los Alamos County  residents and visitors will have one more opportunity to visit a mobile museum right in their own back yard when the Van of Enchantment returns with a brand new exhibit on the history of the railroads in New Mexico.  A museum on wheels, the Van of Enchantment is a converted RV that tours New Mexico carrying artifacts and materials from New Mexico’s state  museums and monuments. The Van of Enchantment, also known as ‘Vanna,’ brings its contents to life with dynamic activities inside and outside in the adjacent tented activity area. Visits are always free. All ages are welcome to these fascinating, interactive, multimedia exhibits-all meticulously designed and displayed beautifully with ship-shape efficiency in a very limited space.

The upcoming exhibit, “Riding the Rails: A History of Railroads in New Mexico,” explores the Santa Fe Trail, the railroad, right into to current times with the Rail Runner Express. The van is staffed with traveling museum educators who offer guided tours, encourage independent exploration and lead creative activities. Home to touchable items, interactive media displays, and authentic artifacts, the Van brings a genuine, yet unique museum experience to all its visitors.

The Van will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday in front of the White Rock Municipal Complex. Ride the Atomic City Transit buses down to White Rock to visit the exhibit.
