The following restaurant inspection reports were provided by the New Mexico Environment Department.

Santa Fe

Above Sea Level, 1274 Calle de Commercio
Date inspected: July 10
Violations: One moderate-risk violation for contaminated equipment — food scales were not properly cleaned and sanitized. One low-risk violation or floors/walls/ceilings — ceiling needs to be repaired.

Atomic Grill, 103 E. Water St.
Date inspected: July 12, complaint
Violations: Two low-risk violations for floors/walls/ceilings — women’s restroom not in working order. Wall by the dishwasher/three-compartment sink is dirty. Clean. Was being cleaned at inspection time. Leak with the heater. Must be fixed within one week. Meanwhile, the other restroom is being used at the moment.
Notes: Regarding complaint, facility management thinks it’s someone they kicked out of the facility who comes and grabs food here. Used to be friends, but he was told not to grab their foods and pastries. He got mad, threatened to call the health department and posted on Facebook that people should not eat here. No violations were noticed regarding this complaint.

Violations: One high-risk violation for poor personal hygiene — no hand towels inside dispenser in the kitchen. Corrected. One low-risk violation for floors/walls/ceilings — floors dirty, trash not removed from kitchen.

Jalapeño’s, 3005 St. Francis Dr., Suite 1F
Date inspected: July 11
Violations: Four high-risk violations, two for contaminated equipment — no sanitizer ready for use; dishwasher machine door has particle accumulation; one for poor personal hygiene — hand sink blocked by mop buckets, clean equipment bending above and dirty pan in sink; one for storage — raw chicken and ground beef stored above cooked rice and cooked chicken. Two moderate-risk violations for contaminated equipment — mop sink, floor sinks filled with debris and food grease particle build-up; inadequate space for dirty dishes. One low-risk violation for floors/walls/ceilings — wall-coring peeling away, exposing interior in wash area, must be removed.

Date inspected: July 12
Violations: One high-risk violation for improper holding — improper cold holding, corrected. Two low-risk violations, one for floors/walls/ceilings — wall needs repair in hand sink area. Coring needs to be installed in dry storage; light out of order in vent hood.

Molly’s Kitchen and Lounge, 1611 Calle Lorca
Date inspected: July 10
Violations: Two high-risk violations, one for improper holding — chicken at 112 degrees on stovetop, beans at 48 degrees in cooler; one for contaminated equipment — box of chemicals held in prep area, one can of Hot Shot insect spray, root killer, two gallons of anti-freeze (bottle labeled), one in storage area. Three moderate-risk violations for contaminated equipment — bottom of freezers and refrigerator not clean; equipment, refrigerator door exterior not clean; inadequate drain boards and space to hold dirty or clean dishes; non-NSF dehydrator for making beef jerky, inside not cleaned daily. Three low-risk violations,  two for floors/walls/ceilings — floor behind and beneath stove, fryer and grill covered in ½-inch of food particles and grease. Beef jerky pieces on floor in prep area; behind freezer, dirty linen, food containers and particles; openings in walls; one for ventilation/lighting — inadequate light in all areas of facility.

Molly’s Kitchen and Lounge, 1611 Calle Lorca

Two low-risk violations, one for administration — permit not posted. Corrected; one for floors/walls/ceilings — no base coring around walk-in cooler/freezer.

Violations: One high-risk violation for poor personal hygiene — no towels available in restroom at hand sink. Corrected.

Santa Café, 231 Washington Ave.
Date inspected: July 10, complaint
Violations: One high-risk violation for poor personal hygiene — hand sink in kitchen was used to place a cutting board. Hand sink must be used exclusively for hand washing. Corrected during inspection.
Notes: Facility chef demonstrated the cooking process for the house-made sage pappardelte with fresh spinach leeks, seared sea scallops and shaved reggiano. Records from that day show that about eight orders of that scallop pasta were served. No one else called sick. Cannot determine where this illness came from. Temperatures of food items checked were good. After observing the cooking procedure, the inspector highly recommended that thermometers (probe) be used to monitor the scallop temperature. Must be 145 degrees to be well done.

Violations: One high-risk violation for contaminated equipment — wiping cloth unsanitary condition. No presence of sanitizer. Corrected. One moderate-risk violation for improper holding — improper freezer temperature. Please check freezer for proper operation. One low-risk violation for administration — NMED food service permit must be posted in conspicuous area.

Violations: Two high-risk violations, one for contaminated equipment — no sanitizer ready for use. Corrected. Sanitizer not being used according to manufacturer’s instruction. Manager must provide written instructions from manufacturer and show that all employees are trained via a written letter by July 17, send to NMED; one for poor personal hygiene — no soap at hand wash sink. Corrected. One low-risk violation for floors/walls/ceilings — men’s restroom door has no doorknob, held ajar.
