The following restaurant inspection reports were provided by the New Mexico Environment Department. 

 

Los Alamos

 

Aspen Ridge Lodge, 1010 Sombrillo Court

Date inspected: Feb. 26

Violations: One high-risk violation for plumbing/waste disposal — dishwasher needs two-inch air gap. Three-compartment sink needs two-inch air gap.

Notes: Walk-in freezer has a lot of condensation and frozen water on floor. Recommend servicing. 

Status of establishment: Approved, follow-up March 5.

 

Bob’s Bodacious BBQ

Date inspected: Feb. 28

Violations: None

Notes: Excellent facility, great job.

Status of establishment: Approved, no follow-up required.

 

Hill Diner

Date inspected: Feb. 26

Violations: None

Notes: Owner said they will close on March 1. No inspection needed at this time, due to closure. Close out on March 1. Attempted regular inspection, but not operating.

 

Kenny’s N.C. BBQ at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos

Date inspected: Feb. 27, closing

Notes: UNM-LA location closed, but the White Rock location is still open.

Status of establishment: Closed, no longer operating.

 

Los Alamos Co-op Market, 95 Entrada Dr.

Date inspected: Feb. 26

Violations: Three high-risk violations, two for contaminated equipment — bin, scoop laying inside flour and sugar. Corrected. Can opener has food product. Corrected. One for plumbing/waste — Two-inch air gap needed at two-compartment sink.

Status of establishment: Approved, follow-up March 15.

 

The Coffee House Café, 723 Central Ave.

Date inspected: Feb. 28

Violations: Three high-risk violations, two for contaminated equipment — ice maker scoop was laying on top. Corrected. Slicer and potato dicer has food product on them. Must clean and sanitize after each use, plus mixing bowl. Corrected. One for storage — fly strip above prep refrigerator. One moderate-risk violation for contaminated equipment — cutting board needs replacement, has too many deep grooves, must be smooth and easily cleanable. One low-risk violation for floors/walls/ceilings — flooring in kitchen has lots of food product, must be cleaned. Ceiling panels need repair.

Time Out Pizzeria, 118 N.M. 4

Date inspected: Feb. 26

Violations: One moderate-risk violation for contaminated equipment — cutting board has deep grooves, must replace. Contact, surface for food must be smooth and cleanable.

Status of establishment: Closed, no longer open.

Española Valley High School cafeteria, 1111 El Llano Road

Date inspected: Feb. 26

Violations: None

Notes: No high-risk violations noted. Hand sink OK, towels, soap, hot/cold water present. Three-compartment sink, food sink OK, clean. Floors, walls, ceilings, overall clean. Facility very clean. Dry storage overall clean/neat. No chemicals visible/present at facility in food prep area. Staff wear clean uniforms, gloves, hair nets.

ETS Fairview, Zuni Lane

Date inspected: Feb. 26 

Violations: None

Notes: Hand wash sink OK, hot/cold water present, soap and towels present. Three-compartment sink, two-compartment sink OK. Temps overall OK. Auto dishwasher operational, 100 ppm, good. Dry storage overall clean, neat. Floors, walls, ceilings, clean. Food contact surfaces clean. No chemicals present/visible in food prep area. Facility is very clean/neat. Staff wearing clean uniforms, gloves and hair nets. No violations noted. New kitchen proposed. EPS must submit new permit application prior to opening.

SUP at Eagle’s Nest Café

Date inspected: Feb. 27, opening

Violations: One high-risk violation for contaminated equipment — scoop in oatmeal. Corrected. One moderate-risk violation for improper holding — need thermometer inside walk-in. 

Status of establishment: Approved, OK to permit, OK to open, no follow-up required.

Date inspected: Feb. 27

Violations: One high-risk violation for plumbing/waste disposal — three-compartment sink lacks air gap. One moderate-risk violation for contaminated equipment — chlorine test strips lacked color chart. One low-risk violation for storage — beverages stored on refrigerator floor.

Status of establishment: Approved, follow-up March 28.

Date inspected: Feb. 28

Violations: One high-risk violation for poor personal hygiene — paper towels at hand wash sink kept on top of counter, needs receptacle. One moderate-risk violation for improper holding — thermometer needed for cool items only. Have one for hot-holding. Three low-risk violations, one for floors/walls/ceilings — hole in ceiling over food prep area. Two for storage — beverages stored on floor in walk-in cooler; ice scoops stored on top of ice machine.

Fresh Pastry Shop, 100 E. San Francisco St.

Date inspected: Feb. 27

Violations: One moderate-risk violation for improper holding — thermometer is not available for the new Advantage under counter refrigeration unit. A new Advantage under counter refrigeration unit has been bought and his has replaced the non-NSF one. One low-risk violation for floors/walls/ceilings — A little crack on the wall by the hand sink by the dish machine. Seal.

Josie’s Catering, 225 E. Marcy St.

Date inspected: Feb. 27

Violations: None

Notes: Kitchen looks clean. No catering done at the moment. The three-compartment sanitizing solution is 200 ppm. Test strips were available.

The Shed, 113 1/2 Palace Ave.

Date inspected: Feb. 26

Violations: One high-risk violation for storage — raw meat was stored close to ready-to-eat foods in the outside cooler. Corrected. One moderate-risk violation for contaminated equipment — undercounter unit surface in bar area is messy. Clean.

Notes: Overall, kitchen looked clean.
