Reno’s Mike Bolsinger was dealing for his Aces as they took the third game in Albuquerque Monday afternoon.
Bolsinger gave up just four hits through seven innings as the Aces blanked the Isotopes 1-0 in the final of that series. Albuquerque will play at Sacramento tonight.
It was a rare pitcher’s duel at Isotopes Park. Albuquerque starter Carlos Frias (2-3) was nearly as good as his Reno counterpart, throwing seven innings of five-hit ball and giving up just one earned run in the third.
That one run would hold up for Reno, however, which took two of three contests against the Albuquerque this weekend. The other scheduled game of the series was rained out Sunday and will be made up as part of another Reno-Albuquerque series June 27.
Monday, Reno’s Nick Ahmed singled off Frias to lead off the third inning, then, after advancing to third on another base hit, score when Frias threw a wild pitch for the only run of the ballgame.
The loss gave the Isotopes (23-27) their second series defeat out of their last four. The Isotopes haven’t won a series since mid April.
Albuquerque and El Paso (24-28) are both 8-1/2 games out of the PCL Pacific Southern division’s top spot, which is currently occupied by Las Vegas (32-19).
