The American Cancer Society’s Los Alamos Relay for Life will be Friday and Saturday at Ashley Pond. The festivities start at 5 p.m. Friday with a free dinner for cancer survivors and caregivers, at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The Relay will begin with the Survivor Kickoff Lap at 6:15 p.m. There will be live music provided by the Gordon’s Summer Concert Series from 7-10 p.m., accompanied by food, fun and games. The Los Alamos artist’s Bird House Auction will be from 6-10 p.m.
The lighting of the luminarias around Ashley Pond will be at 8:30 p.m., to honor cancer survivors and lost loved ones.
On Saturday, Relay continues at Ashley Pond with a free Mason’s breakfast for relay participants from 7:30-9 a.m., a pet walk, zumba demonstration and other activities from 8-9:30 a.m.
The closing ceremony will start at 9:30 a.m. Relay for Life celebrates cancer survivors, remembers those who lost their battle with cancer and is a way for everyone to fight back against cancer. It also raises money to support cancer research and services for cancer patients.
