“Loved to Serve; Serve to Love” is the theme for the day camp that will be held from June 28 through July 2 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Once again, the church will host Rainbow Trail Day Camp from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday -Friday at 2390 North Road. The Day Camp is for older elementary kids who have just completed third through sixth grades.

Bethlehem Lutheran and Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church (TOTH) will team up each year to offer Vacation Bible School (VBS) for younger kids and day camp for the older children. VBS will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Monday through Friday,  the same days as Day Camp but at the TOTH, 3900 Trinity Drive. The VBS theme is “High Seas Expedition” and is appropriate for children age 3 up through those who have completed second grade. Registration forms for both programs are available in either church office. The registration deadline is June 15; each program has a minimal registration fee.

To run the day camp program, four counselors from Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp in Hillside, Colo., bring the camp experience to Los Alamos during the day, so kids can sleep in their own beds at night.

“Each morning,” Day Camp Coordinator Robyn Ladino said, “day campers gather for music and devotions, learn from the Bible and enjoy a special outdoor activity or field trip in town. Each afternoon, day campers and counselors enjoy lunch, a little rest, play games, create crafts and chronicle their week on a computer.” On July 2, Day Camp will end at 1 p.m. Late registrants or campers who can only be present for part of the week or part of each day may still register. For a registration form, call Bethlehem at 662-5151 or e-mail Donna at office1@bethluth.com.
