Quintana named to All-State first team

Basketball: No LA players named to boys, girls squads

Lauren Quintana of Española Valley and Cheyenne Cordova of Pojoaque were both named to the New Mexico High School Coaches Association All-State girls basketball teams.
The NMHSCA released its selections for the All-State teams Tuesday afternoon. No Hilltoppers were selected in either 4A girls or boys basketball.
Quintana was named to the All-State 4A first team for the Sundevils and led them to their fourth consecutive district title this season.
Cordova was picked as a second-team selection for Class 3A.
Representing District 2-4A on the All-State first team was Brandon Saiz of Bernalillo. Named to the All-4A second team were Mikey Lopez and Christian Martinez of Capital.
Chase Salazar and Lane Vander Hulst of Goddard were named to the All-4A first team by the NMHSCA, along with Nick August of Gallup and Adrian Ortegon of 4A champion Santa Teresa.
On the girls 4A first team with Quintana were Teige Zeller of Grants, Michelle Traynham of Valencia, Marika Trujillo of Roswell and Darla Wood of state champion Kirtland Central.
