A new year brings with it many exciting possibilities – and 2008 brings a boon to Los Alamos lunch-goers.In January, Salah Helal, owner of the Pyramid Caf – Los Alamos, started what might be the first-ever Mediterranean lunch buffet on the Hill. From 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday through Friday, patrons may now enjoy a buffet of eight hot Mediterranean and North African entrees, many of which are not available on the regular menu.Chicken drumsticks in harisa sauce, chicken with apricots and oranges in spinach and other items are quickly becoming mainstays of the buffet, along with couscous, rice and pita bread. The buffet also includes Greek salads and baklava.Helal said he decided to offer a buffet in addition to the lunchtime menu in part because it’s so difficult to keep the restaurant fully staffed.
