Public input needed for municipal building site layout and design

-A A +A

The public is invited to attend one of two public meetings hosted by the county’s Capital Projects and Facilities’ staff, along with county contractor Jaynes Corporation/Studio Southwest Architects regarding the site layout and design of the new municipal building, historic archives and County records center.
The meetings will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at White Rock Town Hall and from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at Fuller Lodge’s Pajarito Room.
The bid documents called for the contractor to supply three different designs at the February meeting so that the public can have some options to compare in how the buildings might be sited on the land and the exteriors/appearance. They are working on these concepts now.
These are duplicate meetings in February – one held in White Rock and one in Los Alamos. Members of the public need not attend both meetings to give their feedback about possible design options.
Project Manager Dan Erickson is working closely with Anne Laurent, who is temporarily moving into the Assistant County Administrator position. However, Laurent will continue to be actively involved with the project and the contractor during the design phase.
Two more public meetings  already have been scheduled for March 21 and March 23. For those unable to attend the meetings, more information will be available at the 311 Customer Care Center after the meetings, as well as the County’s webpage. Citizens can track progress on the project by subscribing for “New Municipal Building” e-mail updates under the “Newsletters” link at www.losalamosnm.us.
