The County’s Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Evaluation and Oversight Committee will hold the next set of public hearings on Phase 1 applications at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at council chambers.
The CIP projects that will be discussed are:
• Ice Rink Bathroom and Locker Rooms (CIP-048-1) - Study for construction of new locker rooms, ADA/Family style bathrooms and a storage area at the County Ice Rink;
• Ice Rink Lift Station (CIP-049-1) – Study improvements to the County Ice Rink, including a holding tank and installation of a lift station and connection to the County sewer lines; and
• Ice Rink Parking Lot Improvements (CIP-050-1) – Study installation of an additional parking lot, lights, and a sidewalk to the east of the current parking lot, at the County Ice Rink.
Each applicant will give a brief presentation on their project, followed by questions from the Committee and then the floor will be open for public comment.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend and give the committee their feedback for or against any project being proposed.
Those unable to attend the meeting may e-mail comments for the committee to Gary Leikness in the Community Development Department at gary.leikness@lacnm.us before Thursday’s meeting.
The Committee includes five County staff members and five citizen members.
The five citizens are Don Brown, Terry Goldman, Carl Thornton, Dave Schiferl and Denise Lane. After all public hearings are completed, the committee will score and rank all applications at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in council chambers.
Recommendations are issued in a final report that is sent to the County Administrator at the end of November, and then the administrator forwards any additional comments or recommendations to council for their consideration and possible funding for Phase 1 studies to begin.
The council meeting to consider the applications will occur at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 in council chambers.
Public hearings are suspended for the week of Oct. 25, then resume in November.
