Officials at the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities reported that power was interrupted to about 12 homes in the Big Rock Loop area of North Mesa, beginning at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, due to underground line interference.
Underground main secondary lines faulted affecting a transformer and its power flow to the 12 homes.
DPU’s on-call electric linemen were onsite Wednesday night and worked through Thursday morning to restore power to half of the homes by 1:30 a.m. Repair work continued through the morning and the remaining homes had their power restored by 12:45 p.m. Thursday.
Through the night and morning, text messages reporting the outage and its repair status were shared with interested citizens and news outlets using DPU’s free alert system, available at twitter.com/DPUalerts.
