Politicians praise McMillan's LANL appointment

Politicians praise the appointment of Charles McMillan as the new director of Los Alamos National Laboratory.

New Mexico Gov. Susanna Martinez: “Los Alamos National Laboratory is a prestigious leader in maintaining our nation's security, as well as developing important energy research. Given its critical mission and its presence as the largest employer in northern New Mexico, LANL's contributions will continue to be vital to the future of our state and country. I look forward to working with Dr. McMillan as he serves as the steward of LANL's resources and mission, and will partner however possible to ensure that New Mexico remains at the forefront of technological development and national security efforts."

Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM) : “… Charlie has a long and distinguished list of credentials and most importantly, the scientific background needed to lead LANL into the future. I wish him success in meeting the challenge and look forward to working with him in the months and years to come."

“In the five years Charlie McMillan has spent at Los Alamos National Laboratory, he has more than ably led the weapons program,” Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) said. “He has the science background and leadership expertise to ensure the continued excellence of the multiple missions of the lab. I look forward to working with him in the coming months.”

 Los Alamos County Council Chair Sharon Stover: “We look forward to working with Dr. McMillian on issues of importance to the community and welcome the opportunities to continue to partner with LANL. We are pleased that Charlie not only lives in Los Alamos, but participates in community activities,” Stover said. “We wish him all the best in his leadership for the laboratory's continued success.”
