The Los Alamos Police Department uses the term “arrest” to define anyone who has been physically arrested, served a court summons, or issued a citation.
10:10 a.m. – Police turned in a stray cat to the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter. When the shelter identified the cat’s owner and made contact, the owner agreed to give the cat up and it was adopted by a new owner.
2 p.m. – Andrew Ortega, 41, of Los Alamos was arrested on a charge of battery against a household member, interfering with communications and resisting/evading/obstructing an officer in the 100 block of Santolina Street.
12:19 p.m. – A 59-year-old Los Alamos man reported being the victim of a vehicle burglary in the 1000 block of Myrtle Street. The complainant reported his Los Alamos National Laboratory badge and a pack of cigarettes stolen from his vehicle.
8:42 p.m.— Los Alamos Police obtained a warrant for Thomas Rahn, 54, of Los Alamos and charged him with two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and two counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor. Rahn was arrested by the Bozeman Montana Police Department and held on a $50,000 cash-only bond. Rahn waived extradition at a hearing in Bozeman District Court Monday.
12:20 p.m.—A 30-year-old Los Alamos woman reported being the victim of a burglary in the 500 block of Oppenheimer Drive. Items taken from the woman’s house included jewelry and prescription medication.
12:38 p.m. – A 21-year-old Los Alamos woman reported damage to her car’s mirrors while it was parked on Yosemite.
3 p.m. – Police picked up a roaming dog on 34th Street and delivered it to the animal shelter.
5:30 p.m. – Christopher Sandy, 35, of Los Alamos was arrested on the order of a judge. He was held without bond.
10:57 a.m. -- A Los Alamos postal worker reported being bitten by a dog while delivering mail in the 2100 block of 41st Street. Animal control is following up with the dog’s owner.
Marshall Naranjo, 20, of Hernandez was arrested for causing a disturbance at the Shell service station, located at 3701 Arkansas Ave. He was released on a summons to appear in court to face a charge of disorderly conduct.
7:49 p.m. – Police found an iPod at 2500 Trinity Drive.
10:30 p.m. – Police picked up a dog wandering in the 100 block of Andanada Street. They delivered it to the animal shelter.
9:07 a.m. – a 75-year-old Los Alamos man reported to police his car was broken into while parked in the 1900 block of Camino Mora. He reported the loss and damage to be about $300.
1:57 p.m. – Paul Jaramillo, 26, of Los Alamos, was arrested on a warrant. He was taken into custody in the 300 block of Joya Loop. The warrant was issued because he allegedly failed to pay fines on a previously-issued suspended license citation.
8:06 a.m. – A 49-year-old female reported to police her car was stolen in the 500 Block of Rover Boulevard. The complainant reported the car being stolen sometime between July 4 and July 11.
