SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say a high school teacher in New Mexico is in custody for allegedly having sex with a student.
Santa Fe County Sheriff's officials announced Wednesday that 31-year-old Jennifer Vigil is accused of two counts of criminal sexual penetration.
They say she's being held at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center awaiting arraignment.
Vigil is a science teacher at Pojoaque Valley High School.
A probable cause statement released by authorities says she's accused of having sexual contact with a male student several times in her classroom between March 22 and April 12.
Sheriff's officials say Vigil was interviewed Tuesday and arrested.
They didn't immediately know Wednesday if Vigil has an attorney yet.
