A little bit of old and new will be featured in Peter Pesic’s program for the upcoming Brown Bag show at 12:30 p.m. April 2 at Fuller Lodge.During the free concert, Pesic, a pianist, will not only perform Bach’s “Fifth Partita” and Schubert’s “Sonata in A Major,” he will also play a piece by one of his former students, David Macdonald, who is a composer in New York.Pesic described the Bach piece as one of his “liveliest pieces.” He added it should be interesting to pair the “Fifth Partita” with Macdonald’s work because it looks back to Bach but has a contemporary feel. “It a new take on an old form,” Pesic said.He selected the Schubert piece because it is a “big, unusual piece that is not often heard.”Pesic has performed several times in Los Alamos and is looking forward to returning to Fuller Lodge. He explained Fuller Lodge has a lot of history in its walls and he enjoys the audiences that come to his shows. “It a very interesting and intelligent audience,” Pesic said.As a physicist, Pesic said he feels he shares common interests with members of the audience.“It also a very curious audience that is interested in new and unusual pieces,” he said.In addition to the location and audience, Pesic said he also enjoys the concerts’ relaxed atmosphere.
