Jenny Lauren Tumas of Los Alamos is experiencing life in Canada this semester as a participant in Clemson University’s Study Abroad program. Tumas is majoring in communication studies.
Kimberly Boerigter, a Hope College sophomore from Los Alamos participated in the Pull, one of the nation’s oldest college traditions. She was the moraler for the class of 2014 team. The Pull, first held in 1898, is an annual fall highlight at Hope. Boerigter is the daughter of Stephen and Kathleen Boerigter and is a graduate of Los Alamos High School.
Fifteen sophomores at the University of Kansas have been competitively selected as Global Scholars, including Maslyn Locke, of Los Alamos. Locke is a sophomore in behavioral neuroscience. She is the daughter of Tom and Karen Locke.
This program, coordinated by Brent Steele, director of faculty programs for International Programs, recognizes and encourages undergraduate students who have an interest in global studies and a strong academic record.
The 15 students come from a wide range of disciplines across the university.
They were selected for their demonstrated interest in global and international studies, plans for studying abroad and potential for high academic achievement and leadership.
