Nathan Clements, 16, son of Bradford and Jane Clements, of Los Alamos traveled to Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan., for the 58th Annual George R R Pflaum Debate tournament and placed first in varsity and second in junior varsity divisions as part of the Concordia debaters team.

Girl Scout Troop 97 announces Jessica Hall, Shannon Irwin and Maia Menefee of Los Alamos have earned the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award that for girls ages 11-14.
Each cadette worked to complete a series of leadership challenges and an extensive service project in her community. It takes a minimum of 40 hours of preparation, planning, and work to accomplish the Silver Award goals a girl sets for herself.
To earn the Silver Award, Hall, Irwin and Menefee completed a project that involved building a Little Free Library, 1325 43rd St. It is a “take a book, return a book” with a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up books to share.
