The Albuquerque Isotopes snapped a three-game losing streak in their series opener against El Paso Wednesday.
Albuquerque (6-6) rallied for six runs in the bottom of third and three more the following inning as it downed El Paso’s Chihuahuas (6-6) 11-6 at Isotopes Park.
Center fielder Joc Pederson and catcher Miguel Olivo both homered in the third inning, with Olivo’s three-run blast being the big hit of the frame. Pederson hit a three-run blast in the following inning, his fifth home run of the year, and Olivo would go deep again in the seventh inning, his fourth of the season.
Wednesday’s game also marked the first win of the year for Matt Magill (1-1). Magill was roughed up in his last outing against the Reno Aces, but threw six innings against El Paso, giving up just one earned run and fanning 8 batters.
The series with El Paso continues until Friday. Following this series, Albuquerque will go on the road for eight games starting with a four-game series at Salt Lake City.
