Albuquerque — Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Monty Newman announced that Bryan Watkins will serve as the new executive director of the Republican Party of New Mexico.
Watkins takes over the position after long-time party stalwart Marge Teague announced her retirement earlier this year.
“I am thrilled to announce the addition of Bryan to the Republican Party of New Mexico. He will help move the Party forward in this pivotal time,” Newman said. “His previous campaign experience in California and on the national level will be a welcome addition to the team and will help us develop a strategy to win elections up and down the ballot this cycle.”
Watkins said, “I am humbled by the opportunity to come to New Mexico and serve the party. I am also very excited to help lay the foundation that will elect republicans in New Mexico. There is much work that needs to be done this year, but I am confident that with Chairman Newman’s leadership we can accomplish great things.”
Before joining the Republican Party of New Mexico as executive director, Watkins served as the National 72 Hour Director for the Republican National Committee. In this capacity, he oversaw the day-to-day field operations of the RNC’s Victory program. Watkins also ran a successful secretary of state primary campaign last cycle and brings vast experience in grassroots campaigning.
In 2008, he ran the statewide Victory program in Minnesota.
