SANTA FE – The National Park Service (NPS) will host a public open house and building tour on Nov. 30 in the Great Room of the Old Santa Fe Trail Building, located at 1100 Old Santa Fe Trail in Santa Fe.
A tour of the building and its grounds will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the open house will be from 5:15- 7 p.m.
This open house is meant to provide information about and invite public review and comment on the draft Cultural Landscape Report for the Old Santa Fe Trail property.
This document includes recommendations for managing the historic landscape of this National Historic Landmark. A “scoping” open house was held for the same project in March.
The General Management Plan for the Old Santa Fe Trail Building gives overall guidance for managing the structure and its landscape for preservation of resources, use by NPS and visitors, and interpretation of the building and its history. The Cultural Landscape Report is provided for in the management plan. It is intended to give building managers detailed recommendations for the care of the building’s historic landscape, including native and introduced vegetation, water use and irrigation.
