Old-fashioned fun at Spring Fling

Forgetting about electronic toys and video games, the parent teacher organization at Aspen Elementary School is turning to simpler, more old-fashioned methods to generate family fun.This return to the olden days will occur during the Spring Fling, which will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the school. Admission costs $3 for children older than age 3. Adults will be admitted for free.While the majority of the games, including milk -can tosses, duck pond activities and sack races, feature old-fashioned fun, there will be a little bit of contemporary fun, in the form of a jumper apparatus and face painting. Food and beverages will be sold and for the adults, there will be silent auction, which will feature different themed baskets such as a movie basket or a cooking basket.This is the third year the Spring Fling has been held at the school, Warapha Prime, PTO president, said. “It’s just a fun family event for kids,” she said.Children will have complete freedom over their entertainment; they can play whatever game or activity as many times as they like, Prime said.In addition to having fun, children, along with their parents, can also check out the books sold at the Scholastic Book Fair.“You can accompany them and pick out books together,” Prime said.
