Nordic skiers can celebrate New Year’s Eve and Day on the trails. Closure exemptions were signed on Friday, opening the Nordic Ski Trails, the trail through Canada Bonita to the rim of Guaje Canyon, the full length of Pipeline Road and the Nail Trail from the Camp May Road to Highway 501.
“Few people will realize just how much effort was put into getting the trails reasonably safe and useable for the winter season by volunteers with the Southwest Nordic Ski Club and various contractors with the Forest Service. Conditions are great now with hope for more snow in 2012,” said Española Ranger District Recreation Team Leader Lynn Bjorklund.
