There will be no prescribed burning on the Santa Fe National Forest this week. Last week, fire managers treated 110-acres on the Thompson Ridge Prescribed burn.
Pile Burn, Jemez Ranger District
Last week’s operations consisted of pile burning and blacklining. Fire managers burned piles of previously thinned/masticated material and pre-burned fuels adjacent to control lines in preparation for future burning activities. Fire managers took advantage of last week’s favorable burning window and completed more acres than anticipated.
They provided the right response, for the right reasons, at the right time.
The burn area is located 10 miles north of Jemez Springs, directly north of La Cueva, off of State Hwy 4; access through Forest Road 106.
Residual Smoke may be visible from Thompson Ridge Estates, La Cueva, Jemez Springs, Jemez Pueblo, San Ysidro, Zia Pueblo and portions of N.M. 550 between Bernalillo and San Ysidro.
