SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Bandja Sy had 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead New Mexico State past San Jose State 67-57 on Thursday night.
New Mexico State (18-8, 12-2 WAC) trailed 25-23 with 5:04 to go before halftime but responded with a 15-0 run to close out the first half to take a 38-25 lead at the break and never looked back.
Renaldo Dixon scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Aggies, Daniel Mullings chipped in with 15 and Sim Bhullar had 10 points, five rebounds and four blocks. The Aggies had 10 blocked shots as a team and shot 42.9 percent from the field but were just 4 of 14 from beyond the arc.
Xavier Jones led all scorers with 17 points for San Jose State (9-15, 3-10) and Chris Cunningham had 11 points and six rebounds.
The Spartans have lost seven straight contests.
