The Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation is undertaking a labor supply study for the Los Alamos area. The overall effort will focus on continuing diversification and marketing for Los Alamos County since labor supply issues are so closely aligned with attracting new and emerging industry into the county.

“The ability to better characterize our local and commuting workforce is critical to our economic diversification efforts. The people talents located in our community is one of our strongest assets and the ability to characterize the talent pool and communicate this to businesses interested in our community is essential,” LACDC Business Development Director Patrick Sullivan said.

This study will help to address the questions asked by industry about the local workforce.

Part of the study involves a telephone survey to area residents in order to determine occupations, skills, educational levels and commuting patterns.

Research and Polling, Inc. out of Albuquerque will conduct the survey set to begin the week of March 29.

The survey questions should take no longer than five minutes and area residents are encouraged to respond to the survey if contacted in order to help improve understanding of the area workforce.
