Even community service non-profits need a helping hand from time to time and Mission Los Alamos is here to extend one.According to its website, www.missionlosalamos.org, is a Christian-based organization established to provide information on local help resources. Its founder, Evelyn Rainey, said the community needs a resource list, which the website provides. The website provides information about organizations offering everything from clothing and counseling to food and health care. In addition to the website, Rainey said she hopes to offer hard copies in public places. She added she plans to update the resource list quarterly. This is not the only work the organization will address. Rainey said she would also like to help other nonprofits “fill gaps” in the needs within the community. For instance, the Betty Ehart Senior Center offers numerous services to senior citizens. However, one service they cannot provide is home maintenance for seniors. “That is something I would like to organize,” Rainey said.Ultimately, she would like the organization to help strengthen nonprofits. Although the new non-profit is still in the development stage, it currently has four people to serve as its board and its website is nearing completion.
