A new organization for women business owners called “New Mexico Women in Business” is opening in Los Alamos.
The organization is comprised of women who own their own businesses, whether home-based or in a traditional store front.
“The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome New Mexico Women in Business and we’ll be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and boutique from 5:30-8 p.m., at H&R Block in Central Park Square,” said Chamber Member Services Coordinator Katy Korkos.
Tiffany Lovell is the director of the organization. “New Mexico Women in Business occupies the middle ground between working for someone else and working for yourself,” said Lovall on Thursday. “Our goal is to create a community of independent business owners – each free to create their businesses as they please, and each contributing to a pool of expertise that is available to all – sort of like a freedom direct sales company.”
The group currently includes representatives from several nationally-established companies including Scentsy, Silpada Jewelry, Mary Kay and the unique local business “Party to Go.” Each member will have a booth at the ribbon cutting and they all plan to bring items for sale that would make excellent Valentine’s Day gifts, Korkos said.
“It is refreshing and inspiring to work among such talented and intelligent women,” Lovell said. “I saw a need for women who wanted to grow their businesses but lacked the resources to make it happen on their own. I feel honored to be able to work with this group of women and look forward to seeing future growth and success among our members.”
