The New Mexico Press Women (NMPW), the states largest inclusive media organization since 1949, will hold its state conference April 11-12 at the Courtyard by Marriott at Journal Center, 5151 Journal Center Blvd. NE in Albuquerque.
The annual event draws together professionals in journalism, broadcasting, public relations, advertising, photography, graphic arts, and writing from across the state for exciting workshops and its NMPW Communication Awards presentation and banquet.
This years conference also includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the Albuquerque Journal. The tour of the Albuquerque Journal is scheduled for 3 p.m. April 11, followed by the evening banquet, keynote address and presentation of the 2008 NMPW Communication Awards. The keynote speaker is Doug Fine, an accomplished journalist, outdoor adventure writer, and humorist.
Workshops will be held April 12, 9-4 p.m. with former Associated Press editor Julie Dunlap on improving writing, video producer Troy Simpson on online production and videography, and award-winning scriptwriter Kirk Ellis on writing and getting into the business.
