A new location to host sorority craft fair

The Xi Nu Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi craft fair is 20-years-old and still going strong, but is it ready for a facelift? The Xi Nu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will hold their 20th annual craft fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, rather than the Pueblo Complex.

The change of digs became necessary for the six hour event when chapter members realized the funds used to rent facilities were better channeled to community programs.

Thirty vendors representing jewelry, wood-crafted items, quilts, pillows and more will be on hand during the event.

The ladies of Xi Nu also turn out a variety of baked goods and beverages to add to the coffers of the group's community efforts.

The secret to the success of the event is a result of the work provided by chapter members and Karen Greenfield, Ways and Means chairperson. Additionally, the personal feel the chapter likes to provide to the vendors is part of their secret.

Alice Garcia, a chapter member and vendor, enjoys the many parts of the craft fair, but especially, "getting to know the vendors, exchanging tips with one another and becoming friends."

Chapter member Sara Kaupilla believes the secret to their success is what the craft fair has to offer the shoppers, which is "good, unique stuff in a smaller venue with more of a 'local' feel."
