New councilors make debut Tuesday

  The first County Council meeting of 2009 will be held on Jan. 6 in the Community Building at 7 p.m. This will be the first council meeting to be held with the councilors who were elected in November.

  The meeting will begin with the election of a new Council Chairman and Vice Chairman for 2009. The following items are on the consent agenda for Tuesday night’s meeting, as well: A grant from the State of New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs — New Mexico State Library in the amount of $4,996.81 for the Los Alamos County Library system and Budget Revision 2009-20 in the amount of $4,996.81; Approval of Budget Revision No. 2009-22 in the amount of $140,000 for the Animal Shelter project; Sole community provider hospital payment adjustment for Los Alamos Medical Center; Sole community provider hospital payment adjustment for St. Vincent Hospital; A resolution establishing minimum standards of reasonable notice to the public for all meetings of the Council, the County indigent hospital and County Health Care Board and all County Boards, Commissions and policymaking bodies.

  One public hearing will also be held. The hearing is a resolution endorsing the application submitted by the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation to designate a state authorized Arts and Cultural District in Los Alamos County.
