Get a musical morsel of “The Sound of Music” before being served the whole enchilada starting Friday.
The Los Alamos Arts Council’s Brown Bag show will feature different selections of the musical, performed by the Los Alamos Light Opera, at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fuller Lodge.
The songs will include “The Sound of Music,” “(How do you Solve a Problem Like) Maria,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “No Way to Stop It” and “Something Good.”
“We wanted to give a shorten version of the program,” Laurie Tomlinson, director of the Light Opera, said.
She said the selected songs highlight the different characters.
“We thought we would give people an insight to all the characters in the production,” Tomlinson said.
“I appreciate the Brown Bag allowing … to hear what’s going on in the community,” she added.
The show will give the audience a taste of what is in the show and will hopefully encourage them to see the whole production, Tomlinson said.
The Los Alamos Light Opera’s production of the musical will begin at 8 p.m. Friday at the Duane Smith Auditorium. Performances will continue at 8 p.m. Saturday and March 13-14.
There will be a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors.
They are available at CB Fox and at the door. On Friday, children will be admitted for free along with a paying adult.
