ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Tom Mullins, a petroleum engineer and Tea Party organizer from Farmington, wins the Republican nomination in New Mexico's 3rd Congressional District.
Mullins advances to the November general election to face incumbent Democrat Ben Ray Lujan, a first-term congressman from Nambe (NAHM-bay) in northern New Mexico. Lujan is unopposed in the Democratic primary.
Mullins defeated Iraq war veteran Adam Kokesh of Santa Fe.
According to unofficial returns Tuesday, with 48 percent of precincts reporting Mullins had 74 percent of the vote and Kokesh had 26 percent.
