A spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be held from 6-8 p.m. March 22 at the First Baptist Church to help fund overseas mission trips for four local teenagers. The teens, Daniel Dyer, Daniel Hill, Rachel Hill and Luke Westfall are planning to spend part of the summer participating in trips organized by Global Expeditions, a division of Teen Mania ministries. In addition to raising money, the event will aim to inspire other young people to join the adventure of short-term missions and to answer questions their families may have.Teen Mania is a 20-year-old organization that sponsors live “Acquire the Fire” events all over North America, as well as mission trips, camps and youth leadership programs. Last summer, the ministry took 3,725 young people to 25 nations on Christian missions across the globe. Three of those young people were Dyer, Rachel and her brother Daniel. Are they going again? You bet. This summer’s trip to Madagascar will be Rachel’s fifth trip with Global Expeditions. Daniel is planning his second mission trip this summer to South Africa.
