LAS VEGAS (AP) — BYU’s Jimmer Fredette is the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, while teammate Jackson Emery has been named the league’s top defensive player.
San Diego State’s Steve Fisher and BYU’s Dave Rose share Coach of the Year honors.
The conference announced the awards Monday.
New Mexico’s Drew Gordon is the Newcomer of the Year, New Mexico’s Kendall Williams is the Freshman of the Year and Colorado State’s Pierce Hornung received the Sixth Man of the Year honor.
Fredette becomes the first three-time, first-team honoree in the 12-year history of the Mountain West Conference.
New Mexico’s Dairese Gary and San Diego State’s Kawhi Leonard are first-team honorees for the second straight season.
Colorado State’s Andy Ogide and San Diego State guard D.J. Gay are the other first-team honorees.
