Carol Meine, Mesa Public Library director has resigned from the position. Meine has accepted a job at the Jemez Springs Public Library. She will take on the position of Family Literacy Coordinator. Her last day will be Feb. 20.
Meine said it is hard to leave a place where she has been for seven years, however, “it’s like going home,” she said. Meine resides near Jemez Springs. “It will be a great opportunity for the community.”
Meine began at Mesa Public Library as an assistant, then moved to Youth Services, where she worked for a year. She then spent many years in administration, which lead her to library director.
As director, she has put many events for the gallery, movies and other activities in the rotunda.
She said she is particularly proud of the successful Authors Speak Series. With such acclaimed authors as John Nichols, Valerie Plame and Anne Hillerman, Meine is happy with the way the year has gone. “I’m going out on a high note. It has been a great year.”
There is still no word on a replacement for Meine. Contact Bernadine Goldman at 662-8254 for any program information.
