McCLOSKEY – Maurice (“Mac”) McCloskey, 89, passed away April 2, 2008, with family at his side. Mac was born in Indiana. He served in WWII in the Navy as a machinist mate on a destroyer. He brought his family to Los Alamos in June 1951 where he worked as a machinist and site shop supervisor at LASL until retirement. His uncanny ability to work with his hands and machine tools meant there was a unique “Mac” solution to most any problem.
Mac and Doris loved the travel they shared in their motor home for more than 35 years. Mac loved golf and after retirement played almost every day. He liked to garden and took special joy in all his grandchildren. He also loved to “tinker” in the basement and was always busy building or repairing something for everyone who knew him.Mac is preceded in death by his wife Doris. He is survived by his children Wayne of Bloomfield, Conn.; Dennis of Los Alamos; and Marcy of Menard, Texas; as well as seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.A memorial service will be conducted at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at a later date.
