Saturday marks prom night and a local group of parents is helping keep Los Alamos High School students and their guests safe and sound during and after the annual event.
The prom runs from 9 p.m.-midnight at Fuller Lodge, and multiple businesses, organizations and volunteers in Los Alamos have coordinated after-prom activities for Los Alamos High School juniors and seniors beginning at 12:45 a.m. early Sunday morning after the prom Saturday.
Students with a valid Los Alamos High School ID gain free entrance to the Reel Deal Theater, which will show four different movies from 12:45 to 3:30 am. Onscreen will be “The Forbidden Kingdom” (rated PG-13), “Forgetting Sara Marshall” (rated R), “21” (rated PG-13) and “Prom Night” (rated PG-13). The concession stand will be open to purchase snacks and beverages. Community volunteers will be helping to chaperon.
Those hungry after the movies may walk down to the United Church of Los Alamos at 525 Canyon Road to Craig Hall. Students can gain entrance to Craig Hall, the small building with pre-school park equipment in front of it, off of Rose Street south of the church.
