Pianist Patti Merrill will make her public performance debut in Los Alamos during the upcoming Brown Bag concert at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fuller Lodge.
The program will feature music by Bach, Chopin, Debussy and Grieg. Also on the program will be some of Merrill’s own compositions. At the conclusion of the concert, there will be a piece titled,“Freedom,” which she wrote.
Merrill said she decided to participate in the Brown Bag shows because “I like to share my music with people. I’m always doing recitals and shows here and there and I like to share the joy of music with people in Los Alamos.”
It may be her first public performance in Los Alamos, but Merrill’s music can be heard from White Rock Presbyterian Church, where she is the pianist. In addition to the piano, Merrill is an artist and a writer. She said she enjoys living in the northern New Mexico because “there is so much sky and all the stars at night.”
She said she also enjoys the many opportunities to experience music and the arts.
“I was surprised and delighted that there is so much here with cultural activities,” Merrill said.
The Brown Bag series is free.
