The League of Women Voters will have Steve Watts as its speaker for the monthly Lunch with a Leader from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Jan. 11 at Central Avenue Grill. There is a menu at the grill, which includes entree, iced tea, water, or lemonade, tax and gratuity for $15.
After earning his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in industrial supervision and his master’s degree from Indiana University in international business and environmental policy, Watts was the general manager of French Broad Food Co-op in Asheville, N.C. and Mountain View Market Co-op in Las Cruces.
Additionally, Watts worked for La Montanita Co-op, where he was the business development director responsible for opening the Gallup store and transitioning the former Santa Fe Market Place to a cooperative retail store.
Now he is the project manager/general manager of the Los Alamos Co-op Market. He brings over 10 years of co-op experience to his work at LACM. He is overseeing all aspects of the building project including store interior design, equipment sourcing, supervision of project participants and transition to the new store.
Watts’ talk will define what a co-op is and explore the triple bottom-line of the Los Alamos Cooperative Market — people, planet and profits — and how that mission impacts the community.
Membership in the League of Women Voters is not required to attend these community lunches.
Although reservations are not mandatory, the grill would like to have an idea of how many people will attend, by Jan. 10. To make a reservation, call Karyl Ann Armbruster at 661-6605 or e-mail her at email@example.com.
