The New Mexico Dance Theater Performance Company (NMDT-PC), directed by Susan Baker-Dillingham, wishes to thank the Los Alamos community for its support during the recent NMDT-PC production of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
Baker-Dillingham invited three other nonprofit organizations to work in artistic conjunction with three main characters from the ballet.
The organizations were The Alzheimer’s Association, The Los Alamos Heart Council and The Los Alamos Council on Cancer. In return, NMDT-PC offered to donate a portion of each ticket sold to the three organizations as a way to give back to the community.
Baker-Dillingham, who has choreographed original local productions such as “Dracula” and “Snow White,” proudly stated, “We had the largest audiences in NMDT-PC history with ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.’ More than 1,400 people attended the four performances, and due to the great turnout, NMDT-PC is able to divide more than $1,000 between the three organizations represented, equating to nearly 8 percent of total ticket sales. This makes me, the dancers, and the 180 NMDT families very proud.”
Bernice Williams of the Los Alamos Council on Cancer said, “We were thrilled to be invited to take part in this collaboration. It was a great idea.”
